10 point tie-break

Question:

Given that no players are doubling up, if you split sets do you play out the third set or can you elect to play a tiebreaker?
Does the decision to play a tiebreaker need to be made before the match starts or can it be made after splitting sets? Need the decision be unanimous, is it hosting teams choice or what?

Thanks for your help. Nancy Bohnet

Answer:

A third set tie-break is played if all players agree to it. If only one player wants to play it out, then a full third set is played. The decision to play a tie-break can be made at anytime during the match.
